OUR STORY
American Truckers LLC started as a dispatch company in Saint Paul, Minnesota. We worked with dozens of new owner-operators — finding loads, negotiating rates with brokers, handling billing, and managing the compliance paperwork that keeps a trucking business legal and running.
And we watched most of them struggle with the same mistakes. They were great drivers. They were terrible business owners — not because they couldn’t learn the business side, but because nobody had ever taught them. They overpaid taxes by thousands every year because they didn’t know what to claim. They accepted loads below their break-even rate because they’d never calculated one. They got blindsided by IFTA filings, UCR renewals, and quarterly tax payments because nobody told them the deadlines existed. The good carriers were doing 5 specific things differently from the ones who failed.
So we stopped dispatching to start documenting. We wrote step-by-step guides based on the exact processes we used in our dispatch operation. We built spreadsheets with the same formulas we used to track carrier finances. We created templates from the broker packets and business plans we’d helped clients assemble in real time.
This site is the playbook we wish every carrier we worked with had on day one. No fluff. No theory. Just what actually made carriers profitable, written by the operators who saw it firsthand. The same knowledge that used to require hiring a dispatcher or paying a consultant — packaged into digital products and free guides any owner-operator can access.
WHAT WE DO
Free Educational Content. Our blog publishes in-depth guides covering every aspect of running a trucking business — from getting your MC authority and understanding startup costs to claiming all 50+ tax deductions and filing IFTA without confusion. Over 70 guides currently published, with new content added every week.
Digital Tools & Playbooks. Our digital products are built specifically for owner-operators — nothing generic, nothing repurposed from other industries. They include the Tax Defense Playbook (53-category trucking tax deduction spreadsheet), the P&L Playbook (financial dashboard with 238 pre-built formulas tracking revenue, costs, and profit per mile), the IFTA Filing Defender (plain-English guide + 321-formula quarterly fuel tax spreadsheet), the Broker Setup & Negotiation Guide (27 pages with 6 word-for-word rate negotiation scripts), the Authority Approval Pack (lender-ready business plan template), the 30-Day MC Launch Playbook (52-page new authority startup eBook), the Hot Shot Launchpad (hot shot trucking startup guide + cost calculator), and the Tax Season Survival Kit (18-page filing checklist with 45 commonly missed deductions). All work in Excel and Google Sheets.
The First Year Survival System. Our 6-product bundle packages the core tools every new authority needs — tax tracking, financial dashboard, IFTA, broker setup, business plan, and authority launch eBook — into a single $109.99 system that saves 29% vs. buying them separately.
Free Cost Per Mile Calculator. Our Cost Per Mile Calculator helps owner-operators calculate their true operating cost and break-even rate — the single most important number in trucking. Thousands of drivers use it to make better load-acceptance decisions.
The Carrier’s Edge Newsletter. Our $4.99/month newsletter delivers monthly market intelligence: lane rate trends, fuel forecasts, regulatory changes, and seasonal freight outlook — the kind of intel that used to require subscribing to expensive industry publications.
Curated Partner Recommendations. We maintain partnerships with companies we’ve vetted and used with our own carriers — including freight factoring providers, load boards, B2B prospecting tools, and roadside assistance programs. We earn referral commissions from these partners, which we disclose transparently. We only recommend services we believe provide genuine value to owner-operators.
WHO WRITES OUR CONTENT
All content published on americantruckersllc.com is written and reviewed by the American Truckers LLC team — people with direct, hands-on experience in the trucking industry. Our editorial process is rooted in real dispatch operations: the rate data we reference comes from actual load boards and broker negotiations, the tax information comes from working with owner-operators during filing season, and the compliance guidance reflects the regulatory requirements we helped carriers navigate firsthand.
We do not outsource content writing to freelancers or content mills. We do not publish AI-generated content without thorough human review, fact-checking, and editing by our team. Every guide on this site reflects real industry experience — not research summaries rewritten from other websites.
Our team's areas of expertise include freight dispatch operations and load booking, rate negotiation with freight brokers, owner-operator tax planning and deduction tracking, FMCSA compliance (MC authority, BOC-3, UCR, IFTA), trucking business startup planning, and financial management for small carriers.
✅ OUR EDITORIAL STANDARDS
Accuracy: Financial figures, tax rates, regulatory deadlines, and cost estimates are verified against official sources (IRS publications, FMCSA regulations, current market data) before publication. We update articles when rates, rules, or deadlines change.
Transparency: We clearly disclose affiliate relationships. When we recommend a product or service and earn a commission from it, that relationship is stated. Our recommendations are based on quality and value to the carrier, not commission rates.
Specificity: We publish real numbers — actual dollar amounts, real rates per mile, specific deduction values, and concrete cost breakdowns. We avoid vague advice like "save money on taxes" in favor of specific guidance like "per diem is worth $17,920/year at $80/day for 280 days on the road."
Independence: Affiliate partnerships do not influence our editorial content. Our blog guides are written to help truckers make informed decisions, regardless of whether they purchase our products or use our affiliate partners.
Regular Updates: Tax laws, FMCSA regulations, and market conditions change. We review and update our highest-traffic articles regularly to ensure the information remains current and accurate. Article dates reflect the most recent update.

Not Personalized Financial Advice. Revenue projections, cost estimates, rate comparisons, and financial calculations published on this site are based on industry averages and general market data. WHAT WE BELIEVE
KNOW YOUR NUMBERS
Every business decision starts with data. If you don't know your cost per mile, your profit margin, or your tax liability — you're guessing. We build tools that eliminate the guesswork.
EDUCATION OVER EVERYTHING
We publish the entire playbook. Real rates. Real numbers. Real strategies. No gatekeeping. An informed carrier is a profitable carrier.
CARRIER-FIRST
Everything we build is designed for the driver. If it doesn't help an owner-operator make more money, save more time, or avoid a costly mistake — we don't publish it.
WHERE WE'RE BASED
American Truckers LLC is based in Saint Paul, Minnesota. We serve owner-operators and small fleets across all 48 contiguous states.
